Whistle

Two bits forwarded from Doug, Auckland:

“For the Christian, the acknowledgment of God as the Creator of life, brings to bear one very significant life-transforming truth.  The bible makes it specific that God, in His love, created man.  Thus, it is not life that precedes love, but love that precedes life.  It is the love of God that gave us life in creation, just as it is the love of a mother that enables a child to live, in procreation.  Any attempt to thwart the love of God, thwarts His design and brings discord in life because it rejects the very motivation in the creation of life.

One can readily see how the failure to implement the role of love has resulted in modern man becoming the most abortive of life in all of history.  The opposite of love is selfishness, and the rights of the one bearing the baby have now eradicated the love needed to give life.  From ‘live and let live’, we have moved to ‘live and let die’.  Love is creation’s first law, and if love has preceded life, then for life to succeed, it must live within the boundaries of this love.”

An interesting experiment from Chris:

I am a middle aged guy and have not had much interest in the abortion debate although I did know that it was wrong to abort, and I have always been against it.  I was given this experiment in my quiet time recently, to show someone what it possibly feels like for a woman to have an abortion.

I watched The Silent Scream (available on www.prolifeusa) and am surprised at how accurate this experiment is.

You will need:

Empty toilet roll – to represent the vagina

Cotton wool – to represent the uterus

Lollypop on a stick – to represent the baby

Rubber band – to represent the umbilical cord

Masking tape – to represent what the mother feels

Forceps – to represent the tools used

Firmly attach the rubber band to the lollypop and tape the other end of the band to the back of your hand.

Place the cotton wool on a table top and put the lollypop on top of the cotton wool.  Place your hand next to the cotton wool.

Place the toilet roll next to the cotton wool with one end facing the lollypop.

Rub the forceps on the floor or some other dirty surface (or use coloured chalk).

Then put them up the toilet roll, grab the lollypop and pull it out, then grasp the lolly and pull until something breaks.

Now enjoy your lollypop and as you do think of that baby being dissolved into nothing.

The first time this happens everyone cringes at the perceived pain but after the third or fourth time we are immune to the sensation.

Grace from Marton writes:

I do believe all the prayers being poured over the nation are doing something in the unseen realm.  It definitely is exciting to see how God will manifest Himself through the church when it is over.

Years ago I was in Malaysia during the 40 day fast.  When it was over God actually moved in on the Minister of Health.  He was delivered of a legion of demons and he resigned from his position as Minister of Health and went full time to serve the Lord.  His decision made front page in the National newspaper.  He made Jesus famous!

We need to expect from God, then we will see the miracles over the nation.  Be encouraged; God is breaking through for us as we walk in obedience to His assignment.

Stephen comments:

I think one of the problems in NZ is that women have usurped the authority of men, which is unbiblical.  Even if a man is married he cannot prevent his wife from having an abortion.

Effectively this means that women are the head of the family.  Admittedly, men have in my opinion, (including myself), failed to walk in obedience to God.  Godly authority has been broken down.  Imagine an army in which this had happened.  It would be chaos.  I refer mostly importantly to the church.

Paul from Wellington comments:

I believe we cannot live our time here in New Zealand without seriously doing something to stand up against abortion, to cry out to our God, who dearly loves these little ones, for Him to change the hearts of a society hell-bent on removing the inconvenience of unwanted children by murdering them at their weakest stage of life.  At this stage of life their personalities are yet unknown to their parents.  We deliberately choose to assume they are not yet a person, a person for whom we are ultimately responsible for bringing into existence.

Nigel from Hamilton wrote:

As a male it is probably harder for me to get my head around the whole issue.  It has been a great help to have a better understanding of the nature of this problem.  The curse over us of a powerful spirit which when combined with the presiding spirit over NZ of complacency, (she’ll be right), inhibits our ability to be truly concerned and to really perceive the effect that it has of inhibiting the ability of so many of our young people, (and older), in NZ to know the Lord in their lives and accept Him as their saviour.

Esther who lives in Motu says:

Motu – doesn’t really come under either Gisborne or East Coast, as it’s inland.

Stick a pin on your map!! J

I’m very interested in supporting this although being involved in heavy physical work as a farmer’s wife I can’t overdo the fasting part of it.  However, I will try a Daniel fast or similar.

Blessing on you and your team and may God honour this.

Trish from Takapuna writes:

As a child I remember my mother, a devout Catholic, working tirelessly in the ‘70s to warn people of the disaster to befall NZ if abortion was made legal.  The ever-climbing graph you have on your website sadly and incriminatingly bears out those predictions.

We are a couple who are wanting, hoping and praying to adopt.  We’ve been a year so far in the pool, with next to nothing happening.  There are so few babies available.

You can add a heart on the map beside Takapuna.  Let’s get the nation covered!

Annabel, working in Israel:

I want to endorse what you are doing, it’s fantastic and I feel from God’s heart.

I want to do my ‘bit’ although not from NZ.  I’ve been in Israel for five months working as a volunteer in a handicapped children’s hospital.

I’m fasting at the moment and hope it includes Whistle and I’m praying for a major breakthrough in the heavenlies as a result of this month of prayer and fasting.

Adrian from Wellington wrote:

Personally, I plan to use the October-November 40 days period to really seek the Lord, like Moses up the mountain.  I don’t want the call on my life aborted by my own failure to press in and let God birth His true and best purposes in me.  Christ in me the hope of glory.

Esther, from Whangaparaoa:
shared with a friend about Whistle and the 40 days.  Her friend said she would wear a whistle around her neck for 40 days.

When people enquired why, she would be able to tell them about prayer for the abortion issue.

What an idea?  Any one else willing to try this?

Whistles are generally available from the $2 shops.

Jan from Nelson:
was reading Exodus 1:15-17 about the Hebrew midwives refusing to obey the Egyptian masters and kill the Hebrew baby boys as they were born.  These midwives feared God.

Jan said, “God is calling us to be like the Hebrew midwives, to fear God, and not to kill what He is trying to birth in our nation.”

Mike of Wellington Elim Church wrote:

We started our medical centre primarily as a response to the abortion issue.  Our lead doctor is now training 63 new registrars who will be GPs.  There is huge opportunity for influence.  We have seen hundreds of babies saved from abortion through this ministry.

Maureen from Taranaki wrote:

I have already started praying with two others from Stratford.  It is amazing what God is doing, and I am very stirred to be part of the 40 days prayer and fasting.

My pastor grabbed Whistle No 3 and the little pamphlet that came with the Challenge last week and admitted he had no idea the number of abortions in NZ each year and he needed to know what is happening.

Christine from Hamilton wrote:

The Catholic Church has been fighting for many, many years against abortion.

I feel your call for the 40 day prayer and fasting will inject fresh enthusiasm into those of us actively involved in this area.  It is so encouraging to have other Christians realise this is an evil.  We can share our knowledge, experience and expertise with each other.

Nola from Auckland:

I have found 10 willing ladies from my church who are only too happy to pray and fast when they can on this important issue of abortion.
