God has given Lou
Engle, USA, a huge burden regarding abortion in his nation.
Since 2000 he has been instrumental in gathering thousands of under 30 year olds
in stadiums to fast and pray for several topics for 12+ hours. One of the main topics has been abortion.
He has established JHOPs (Justice
Houses of Prayer). Young people are trained in prayer and go and pray outside the Court Houses of their
cities for the laws about abortion to be overturned.
Together with Mike Bickle and IHOP (24/7 International House of Prayer in Kansas City), Lou is running
Nazirite Schools for those who are really serious and willing to embrace the Nazirite lifestyle.
Lou writes: “In this historic hour of human
history, God is raising up a new breed of young men and women who refuse the status quo of religion and desire to live abandoned
to the purposes of God in this generation. In the days of old, this holy breed was called the Nazirites.
They frequently surfaced in the darkest hour of Israel’s history as voices that challenged the waywardness of
their nation and wakened people back to the Lord. The Nazirite lifestyle is not something reserved for
the select few or the elite. It is a summons extended to anyone and everyone that will heed its invitation.
The Nazirite call gives permission to the most ‘ordinary’ among us to enter into the radical devotion of
the forerunners.”
John
the Baptist, a Nazirite, is the well known example – radical, holy, and a forerunner for Jesus. He
lived a fasted lifestyle and prepared the way for the new order Jesus would bring. He even got to baptise
Jesus! (see Luke 1:11-17, Matthew 3:1-17, Judges
13:1-8)
Does this Nazarite concept
grab you?
You
could sample 40 days of this lifestyle of prayer with fasting by committing to NZ’s nationwide 40 day season of prayer
and fasting regarding the abortion issue in NZ.
Are you able to gather others – friends, family, home/cell/youth group – to pray and fast?
You might like to visit the
Abortion Prayer Room being set up in Hamilton from 10th to 31st Oct.
Or: are you able to establish a prayer room –
for a weekend, a week, for the 40 days – at your church, in your town, so others have the opportunity to come to a central
place and pray regarding abortion?
I can give you some ideas for this... Click here for ideas...
I’d love to hear
from you.
