Letter No. 4

Here in Hamilton we are running a Candle Light Vigil from 10pm for 10 hours on 10th of the 10th month (that’s 10th Oct).

Each candle will be a little light flickering in the darkness of the abortion issue.  Light always dispels darkness – even one tiny light held by one person.

Would you be willing to come and hold your light, and offer your prayers into the darkness of this issue.

You may feel “Who am I?  What do I have to offer?”

By just being there with others, tells God that you care, that you want to make a difference in this nation, with this issue of abortion.

Maybe in your younger days you sang the song:

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine….

Don’t let Satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine….”

Jesus said,

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.  Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.  Your eye is the lamp of your body.  When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light.  But when they are bad your body also is full of darkness.  See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.  Therefore, if your whole body is full of light and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.”  (John 11:33-36)

In the 1970-80s the Church was very vocal about the abortion issue and how wrong it was – their light shone – but over the years the collective voice has died down.  The light of the Body of Christ got very dim and the darkness of deception about the issue of abortion crept in.

I believe it is time now for a new generation to arise, to stand once again for justice and righteousness.  The truth of the Word of God about life needs to be spoken out once again, first one way and then another, in whatever way the Holy Spirit leads.

Jesus may require you to be part of this voice.

Each voice counts.  Each small voice makes the collective voice louder.  Each small light makes the collective light brighter and the Body of Christ radiate The Light.

Jesus called Himself The Light of the World.  We are to be reflectors of that light into our world.
