ABORTION - 40 days prayer/fasting: 10 Oct - 18 Nov

As we move on after the first week the Lord is saying:

Be strong, whatever opposition you are facing, be strong.

Keep going with the  enthusiasm with which you began.

THE LAUNCH of the 40 DAYS, in Hamilton (a summary)

10am on the 10th, a group of 7, that grew to 10 of us, (we didn't plan 10) gathered to commit the 40 days to the Lord.  After a time of worship we read aloud Ps 99 (from day 1 of the booklet) and worshipped some more at His footstool.  Ps 17 and Ps 119:126 caused us to cry out to the Lord for Him to extend His right hand and act for His law is being broken.

Another Psalm, 91, and Derek Prince's proclamation of protection, were read over all those participating in the 40 days.  One prayer booklet was held by all and prayed over as representing all those that have gone out by various means.  Expect the power of God to come as you pray.  Rev 6:2 - Jesus will ride out as conquering king, bent on conquest over the abortion issue.  We prayed over a map of NZ, had communion around the map and blew whistles over the map to announce full time to the issue of abortion and the start of the 40 days.

CANDLE LIGHT VIGILS: 2 brief summaries

HAMILTON ~

Those present gathered outside the door with their little candle in a glass.  All the lights of the venue were turned off.  We walked in silence into the darkness, symbolic of our bit of light, our bit of faith, our Light of the World, coming into the darkness of the abortion issue.  We stood around the room and had a time of worship beginning with the old children's song This Little Light of Mine.  This simple song had great significance.  Following this a nurse who had worked in an abortion clinic shared with us and answered questions.  We split into two groups, one to pray for her, and the other for a pro-life pastor.  The 10 hours was divided into two hourly slots each with some worship and a specific focus for prayer.  During the second two hours those present had their mouth covered with red tape with the word LIFE written on it.  We sat in silence (no other option!) before the Lord and tried to hear what He had to say regarding abortion. Then we created 'posters' of the message, shared that and prayed about the topics.  Between 2-4am we held the fetal models and prayed over them. This was a sobering time with lots of silence.  The next two hours were more so as we pressed into God.  We used Isaiah 59 and prayed most of that.  We welcomed the NEW DAY regarding abortion during the final two hours as the sun rose for the new day in the natural.  Lots of praise, dance and joy with three Polynesian women providing the worship. Such a boost in spirit.

WHANGAREI ~

They also walked in from outside with a tall candle bluetacked in a jar.  (What did we do before bluetac?)  They sang the National Anthem as they walked and found it very powerful.  Following this they read through the first five pages of the Abortion Prayer Booklet, had a time of repentance and then communion.  Their 10 hours had lots of worship, prayer, hot drinks and fellowship.

Not long after 5am a bird started to sing a beautiful song and it was like God saying "My creation is joining in your praise and worship".

(Are there any others who would like to send in a summary of their vigil?)

LET'S BEGIN TO MOVE IN THE SPIRIT OF ADOPTION!

ADOPT, and PRAY FOR, A CITY OR TOWN FROM THE LIST BELOW

This could be prophetic of the adoption that needs to occur to replace abortion.

Although people from these places may have received emails, or know about the 40 days one way or the other, or received a booklet, no one has yet signed up to stand in the gap and pray specifically for these cities/towns.

As believers we have "received the Spirit of sonship/adoption".  We are adopted sons/daughters by grace.  Adoption was common among the Greeks and Romans, who granted the adopted son all the privileges of a natural son, including inheritance rights.  "We have been redeemed from under the law, that we might receive the full rights of sons" i.e. adoption of a son.  God takes us into His family as fully recognized sons and heirs.  "The whole of creation is groaning...we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies."  "In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will, to the praise of His glorious grace which He has freely given us...." (Rom 8:15 and NIV note, Gal 4:5 and note,  Rom 8:23, Eph 1:5-6)

Using these verses as an example, and, as those who have signed up first, we can offer to these cities/towns the same rights to be prayed for as we adopt them in love.  Let's bring them into "the family" of cities/towns being prayed for.  Then they will have a greater opportunity to receive all the same privileges and inheritance rights as we do.

I have adopted Port Waikato and Russell.

CITIES AND TOWNS YOU CAN ADOPT - from the original list on the website:

Have you visited one of these and enjoyed your visit?

Do you have unsaved relatives, or one who has had an abortion, in one of these towns?

Do you feel the Holy Spirit drawing you to one in particular?

Did you used to live in one, were born in one, or it is close to where you used to live?

Either email me or use the sign up form on the website naming the city/town and the fact that you are adopting this one.

You might like to read the adoption page on the website.

Currently we have 77 cities/towns with at least one person standing in the gap.  PRAISE GOD!

Some more towns have been added to our original list as people have volunteered to stand in the gap.

NEW WEB PAGE:

We have begun a new page on the website called Prayer Reports

Several - groups and individuals - have emailed a summary  of the leading they received as they have prayed.  If you write a brief summary of your prayer meeting about abortion we will include it also.

LASTLY - A REMINDER:

Please pray for churches to continue to prepare to minister in Spirit-led love and compassion to those affected by abortion.  I believe that, as the veil is lifted and as we continue with these 40 days, there will be an uncovering of the national pain and grief of abortion, and that those affected will begin to seek help.  Pray they will seek help from Christians.  (You could spend a minute or two praying now.  As each one receives this email and prays, that will represent hours of prayer rolling over the nation.) Project Rachel 0800 217 033 also offers help.

Blessings and be strong,

Sue Rowe
