GREAT NEWS!  ALL THE CITIES/TOWNS HAVE NOW BEEN SIGNED UP FOR OR ADOPTED.  THE MAP ON THE WEBSITE LOOKS GREAT.

ELECTIONS:

Recently I received an email which traced the impact of evangelical-Christian voting in USA.  Here are some points.

It is estimated that there are about 60million evangelical Christians in USA.

During the four elections between 1992-2002, the number of voting Christians declined.

In 2002 something sparked an interest and polls showed a 2% increase in Christian voter turnout.  As a result 36 of the 54 new House members were pro-life, pro-faith and pro-family.  Likewise were 8 of the 10 new Senators. (80%)

In 2004, the trend continued with a 93% rise in Christians voting.  That dramatic increase gave pro-life candidates huge majorities in the House and Senate.  In fact, 25 of the 40 new House members were pro-life (63%), and 7 of the 9 new Senators were pro-life, pro-faith and pro-family. (77%)

Historian David Barton summarized the impact.  'The result was the congressional enactment of the first four major stand-alone pro-life laws since Roe v Wade:

the infants Born Alive Protection Act

the Unborn Victims of Violence Act

        the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban

        the Fetal Farming Ban

Furthermore, the addition of so many new pro-life Senators resulted in the confirmation of two new pro-life Supreme Court Justices and dozens of pro-life court of appeals and federal district court judges.'

But in 2006, something changed.  While 92.5% of homosexual men and 91% of lesbian women voted, there was a drop of 30% in Christians voting.

As a result, only 17 of the 54 new House members were pro-life (30%), and only one of the 10 new Senators was pro-life. (10%).  The Baltimore Sun reported that America voted in 'the most pro-choice Congress in the history of the Republic.'

In short, Congress (or Governement) never reflects the values of the nation; rather it only reflects the values of those who voted in the last election.  When a Christian votes according to Biblical convictions, it makes a huge difference.

Another email said, 'the 2008 election is in the hands of the Christians'.

In yet another email, Doris Wagner said she believes that the USA elections is not about the economic situation or the war in Iraq, but who will be appointed as judges in the Supreme Court over the next two terms should the new president serve that long.  Up to five (of the nine) Justices could be appointed, replacing those retiring.  They have great power in shaping the culture in USA.  Five judges, the majority in the Supreme Court, over the last 50 years have caused 50 million babies to be killed - the number aborted since Roe v Wade, legalized homosexual marriage, removed parental rights, put God out of schools and govt, etc.

All sorts of comments have been made about Barak Obama over the past months.  But now he is president he needs the prayers of Christians.

Let's pray for God to move on Christians to get out and vote here in NZ, Saturday 8th Nov.

On Tuesday 4th Nov, the day in the 40 days prayer booklet when we considered whether abortion was murder, I (Sue) felt the Lord was saying the following:

“Hear my heart, my heartbeat for the hearts that stop beating.

Call the nation to hear my heartbeat.

If you lose touch of my heartbeat,

if you cannot lay your head on my chest and hear it, you do not know me.

To know me is to know my heart and heartbeat for the unborn.

Come away, come away,

draw aside and hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches.

Be still and listen and you will hear my heartbeat.

It speaks of intimacy, loving-kindness,

the Father’s love and the Mother’s embrace,

and clarity concerning my plans and purposes for each little life.

As my eyes see beyond the veils of the womb into its depths,

the place of my creative miracle, I embrace this life.

Woe to those who tear this life from its place of security and nurture.”

"I always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in my prayers.  I continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."  (1 Thess 1:2-3)

Blessings and THANK YOU,
