An encouraging pregancy story

An Encouraging story – 14 December, ‘08

The preacher at the church service I attended this morning spoke of a Christian woman, who had rung him years ago, regarding what the doctors had advised her to do about her pregnancy.

When she was 16 weeks pregnant she was due to have her first ultrasound, but she forgot to do this.  At 20 weeks she thought she had better get it done.

It was at this stage that her baby was diagnosed with a cyst on the brain and told the fatality rate was 95%.  With this particular syndrome (name forgotten), the baby could have extra fingers and toes, kidneys under developed and much more including brain damage.  It was suggested that she consider termination.  She and her husband decided against that.

During the scans over the next months nothing was revealed as every time they tried to take pictures of the baby’s hands he would hide them.  When they took pictures of other parts of the baby his hands would wave everywhere.

She was kept under observation during the pregnancy.  The top neuro-surgeon from Auckland said had he seen her at 16 weeks he would have very strongly convinced and pressured her to terminate the pregnancy.

During the pregnancy she had the peace of God, loving and thanking Him daily for their lovely son.

Over the years he has seen numerous doctors to see if there is anything ‘wrong’ with him.

Now, 14 years later, they have the most wonderful boy, who is an absolute delight to his family and is destined to go far in the Kingdom of God.  He loves the Lord and looks forward to fulfilling whatever God has for him.  He is even speaking out he will be a prophet one day.

(The mother in this story was present in the service.  The main thing that caused the person to talk with this mother, and to gain her permission to send this report in, was that the preacher used Isaiah 5:26 – our Whistlenz scripture – although it didn’t seem to fit the context of the sermon.)
