SECTION ONE:

Media is people, ideas, concepts, and WORDS.

Let’s begin by declaring aloud over the media a few of the truths from the Word of God about HIS WORDS:

As we each do this, these truths go out into the spiritual realm over our nation.  God’s promise is “… as my word goes out from my mouth, it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

“Man does not live by bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Deu 8:3

“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless.” 2 Sam 22:31

“…. God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.” Ps 56:4

“Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws.” Ps 119:43

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Ps 119:105

“Every word of God is flawless; …. Do not add to His words, or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar.” Prov 30:5-6

“Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks a rock to pieces?” Jer 23:29

“Jesus answered: It is written, ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’.” Matt 4:4

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God …. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us … full of grace and truth.” John 1:1,14

“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17

“We do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God.” 2 Cor 4:2

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” Col 3:16

“For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any doubled-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”  Heb 4:12-13

PRAYER POINTS:

·         The media is a “gate” to our nation.  Those in authority in media open the gate and allow in certain information and they close the gate and keep out other information.  They do this in relation to abortion and other pro-life issues.  BUT - Jesus said, “I am the gate”.  He also said, “The watchman opens the gate for Him.”  One of the roles of Christians is to be watchmen on the walls of the city, of the nation and to never be silent day or night.  What we open no-one can shut. (Jn 10:7,9,3; Is 62:6, Rev 4:7)  Declare aloud: Jesus, please take up your true position as The Gate of media in NZ.  Today, as watchmen over the issue of abortion and other pro-life issues, we open the gate for you to act and allow in all information, all truth, that will reshape public opinion and attitudes in NZ towards pro-life.  What we open no-one can shut.  Today we shut the gate to all lies, fabrication and modification of the truth concerning abortion.  Jesus, we ask for an angel of the Lord to be stationed at this media gate to guard the process of righteousness, justice and truth in and through media in NZ so this process will no longer be aborted.

·         Pray Proverbs 8:1-36.  Does not wisdom cry out to the media?

·         Pray for pro-life editors, writers, researchers and reporters to be appointed, no compromise, willing to report and rightly handle truth with the fear of the Lord.

·         Pray for the Pro-Life Coalition (see last Whistle, No 9, where these were listed): that the Holy Spirit would guide them into creative ways to utilise the potential of media to promote truth that will challenge and change public opinion from a worldview to a Biblical view.  Pray that every difficulty and obstruction holding back pro-life groups accessing the media will be removed, the right to report truth and life would be restored and that which has been stolen restored 7-fold. (Prov 6:30-31)  Pray that the pro-life corporate voice would keep pace with the development of technology so that a pro-life, national, corporate, conscience amongst all ages, races and religions can be built up.  “By setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”  2 Cor 4:2

·         Pray for accurate reporting of the May court case; God’s appointed reporters and editors to be assigned, that they would know the truth that would set them free and report truth to the public.

SECTION TWO:

RU486

Media releases, by a number of pro-life groups, were sent out about Family Planning’s proposal to apply to the ASC for a licence to use this abortion pill.

Garth George picked up on this in the Herald on March 26^th.  Under the heading “Abortion idea sends  chills up the spine” he wrote:

“There is something chillingly sinister in the proposal by NZ’s most spectacularly unsuccessful taxpayer- funded social agency, the Family Planning Council, to be allowed to administer non-surgical abortions.

The council will apply to the ASC for a licence to provide an early medical abortion service, using the controversial RU486 abortion pill through its network of clinics.

The early abortions (within the first nine weeks) involve the use of pills to cause a miscarriage early in the pregnancy rather than a surgical abortion in which the foetus is removed from the uterus by suction.

What this means, among other things too horrible to contemplate, is that teenage schoolgirls can be given the abortion pill and go through a medical abortion without their parents’ permission or knowledge.

And if parents later find out, there is nothing they can do as Family Planning is protected by law.  Even if their daughter suffers subsequent medical or mental health problems, the parents have no right of redress.

….. There have been 12 recorded deaths in USA of women using RU486, resulting from severe infection in the blood and excessive bleeding during labour.

In announcing its proposal, Family Planning president Linda Penno, said, ‘Currently, NZ women have inconsistent access to abortion services and in many areas, limited choice about the method of abortion they can access.  Safe and accessible abortion services are an integral part of good reproductive health care.  Applying for this licence is consistent with that philosophy of access and choice’.

That is a classic example of Family Planning’s Orwellian dissimulation and it takes imagination to realise that she is talking about legalised murder.  For that is what the proposal is about.  Sure, there are more than 18,000 surgical abortions carried out every year in hospitals and abortion clinics around the country.  But there is something frighteningly malevolent about this euphemistic Family Planning language.  It implies that taking RU486 removes some sort of ‘thing’ – a thing that has no intrinsic value; a thing to be disposed of like rubbish.

And once we, for the sake of convenience, accept that a 9-week tiny human baby is simply disposable rubbish, then we succumb to a lie and embrace modern barbarism.

As Bernard Moran, of Voice for Life, says: ‘The killing may have the sanction of the courts and Parliament, but it is still legalised murder of the innocent – a true culture of death.  It cannot be allowed to expand without protest.  For that is why we exist’.”

PRAYER POINTS:

·         Pray for a positive response by editors towards pro-life groups and to media releases by pro-life groups and for the Holy Spirit to draw the general public to read these releases and be convicted by the truth contained within.

·         “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”  2 Cor 7:10

·         Local free papers have opportunity, e.g. under Health & Beauty, for pro-life views to be expressed in a short ‘editorial’ in addition to the paid advertisement lodged.
